Developer Longdue Shows Off New Debut Teaser for Hopetown

Developer Longdue unveiled today a new debut teaser for the upcoming psychogeographic RPG Hopetown. This trailer is accompanied by new details about the team behind the project as well as an announcement that the game’s Kickstarter campaign will launch on March 17th. 

Hopetown is set in a mining town where words are your deadliest weapon. You play as a rogue journalist who sees humanity as inherently selfish and cruel. You thrive on poking at bruises, pulling at loose threats and watching what unravels. The game’s mechanics build on the legacies of Disco Elysium and Planescape: Torment and introduces systems that explore player agency. The psychogeography system is pivotal in how players interact with the game world: emotions, memories and conversations become tools that unlock doors, alter landscapes and reshape relationships. 

Longdue has revealed that Lenval Brown, the voice of Disco Elysium’s narrator, will be closely involved in this new project and will voice a key character in the game. Players can hear his distinct voice in the latest trailer for Hopetown below. 

Martin Luiga, founding member of the ZA/UM Cultural Association, writer of the first short story in the Disco Elysium universe and writer of 7 characters in Disco Elysium, has also joined the Longdue team. Lenval and Martin are joined by Piotr Sobolewsky who oversaw a team of 15 that worked on Disco Elysium and helped to shape the game’s signature mad, gnarly energy into something smooth, cohesive and deeply immersive. 

The Hopetown Kickstarter is set to launch on March 17th which will give players deeper insights into the team behind the game, its psychogeographic and journalism mechanics, the mining town setting and more. Longdue is an independent studio that hopes that by having a successful Kickstarter campaign, they will build a thriving community that will help with decisions during development and shape the final version of Hopetown.
