Upcoming Indie Games Releasing in January 2025

Welcome to 2025! We’ve all got a massive backlog of games we missed in 2024, but let’s not forget what is on the way in 2025. We’ve put together a quick list of indie games coming up this month that you definitely won’t want to miss.

Reviver (January 8th / PC)

From Developer Cotton Game, Reviver is a hand drawn, narrative puzzle game where you follow two main characters as they embrace their destinies and experience life, love and fate. Make choices for each character in order to directly influence their life path. Each object and environment has been brought to life with detailed animations that are sure to enhance the player’s immersion in this beautiful world. Reviver is set to release on January 8th for PC and currently has a demo available on Steam.

Hyper Light Breaker (Early Access January 14th / PC)

Hyper Light Breaker is an action, adventure RPG and sequel to 2015’s Hyper Light Drifter. The Early Access version of the game will include the core pillars and gameplay loops as well as different (but not all) player skins. You’ll also be able to enjoy online multiplayer with up to three players and utilize a variety of weapons and character upgrades to grab on every run. This long awaited sequel is set to release into Early Access on January 14th for PC.

Tyrant’s Realm (January 16th / PC)

Tyrant’s Realm from Team Tyrant is a roguelike action-adventure inspired by classic Souls games with PS1-style visuals. In true roguelike fashion, loot will change everything about how you play the game. In a brutal world where your goal is to end the reign of the Tyrant, you will be pushed to your very limits. Tyrant’s Realm will be released on January 16th for PC and currently has a demo available on Steam.

Pairs & Perils (January 20th / PC)

From Little Horror Studios, Pairs & Perils puts a twist on the roguelike and dungeon crawling genre. Use your memory to match cards in order to attack enemies, avoid traps, shops for items and more. Build a deck and try out different strategies to find what works for you. Each playthrough is different and randomized so no two runs will ever be the same. Pairs & Perils is set to release January 20th for PC and currently has a demo available on Steam.

The Stone of Madness (January 28th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch)

From the great minds at The Game Kitchen, The Stone of Madness is a real-time tactical stealth game set in an 18th Century Spanish Monastery which is home to both an inquisitorial prison and a madhouse. You follow five prisoners who must work together to stave off insanity, face their fears and find a way to escape a cruel fate. The Stone of Madness is set to release on January 28th for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch and currently has a demo available on Steam.

Eternal Strands (January 28th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)

An upcoming 3D action adventure from Yellow Brick Games, Eternal Strands has players fighting epic, towering creatures using their magical abilities or powerful weapons. Eternal Strands lets you combine an array of powers to create enchanted weapons and craft special armor to slay enemies. Pick up your weapon and get ready to play on January 28th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (January 31st / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch)

A highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s Citizen Sleeper, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a dice-driven RPG where you play as an escaped android with a malfunctioning body. With a price on your head, you’ll have to navigate the cruel sci-fi world, get a ship, pull together a crew and take on contracts in order to survive. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will round out the end of the month with a January 31st release for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
