Upcoming Indie Games Releasing in April 2025
It is going to be a doozy of a month so let’s get right to it. We’ve got loads of amazing games on the way from horror to cozy to just plain weird. Here are some of the upcoming indie games for April we can’t wait to play.
Koira (April 1st / PC, PlayStation 5)
Koira is a wholesome tale of friendship where you meet a new puppy friend and travers a magical forest together solving ancient puzzles and befriending other woodland creatures. Unfortunately, hunters lurk in the shadows so you’ll have to try to survive while protecting your sweet pooch. Koira is set to release on April 1st for PC and PlayStation 5.
Elroy and the Aliens (April 2nd / PC)
Reminiscent of the classics, Elroy and the Aliens is a point-and-click adventure game set during 1993. When two siblings Elroy and Peggie discover a secret crystal and an enigmatic message, they travel away from their hometown on a journey through the cosmos to find their long-lost father, unraveling a lurking threat along the way that could destroy the entire existence of the universe. Elroy and the Aliens is on the way April 2nd for PC. A demo is available now on Steam.
Oddventure (Early Access April 3rd / PC)
Oddventure is a JRPG that follows Charlie, a nihilistic and rebellious teenage girl. Charlie is on the search for her troublesome brother Bonzo and hopes to rescue him and find a way back home. Oddventure features turn-based combat with a twist, using the mood of your characters meaning that every battle can be completed in a different way. Oddventure is set to release into Steam Early Access on April 3rd.
Inspector Schmidt - The Ebbing (April 7th / PC)
Inspector Schmdit - The Ebbing is a detective RPG where the sudden death of Bente Hansen shakes the seaside town of Havstedt. The townspeople are in turmoil over who could have murdered him, thankfully Inspector Schmidt is equipped to deal with the issue. Use the game’s dialogue mechanic to question residents, gather compelling information and find out who is hiding something in this exciting mystery. Inspector Schmidt - The Ebbing is set to release on PC on April 7th. A demo is available on Steam now.
PEPPERED: an existential platformer (April 7th / PC)
PEPPERED is an existential platformer where you have only one shot at everything. Every choice, every battle and every failure will impact the branching plotline and determine how the story will go and how it will ultimately end. In the game, an office intern decides to save the world by themselves, but the world responds by summoning police, angry mobs and the media branding them a terrorist. Leila (April 7th / PC)
Another gorgeous looking point-and-click title, Leila follows the story of an everyday woman as you explore her past and bring her memories to life. Traverse through all phases of Leila’s life, uncovering her pivotal moments and try to comprehend the motives behind her biggest life’s choices. Grapple with the complexities of love, trust and the shadow’s of Leila’s past on April 7th for PC. A demo is available now on Steam.
Locomoto (April 8th / PC)
Locomoto is a cozy, life-sim adventure game set on a train where you are the conductor. Customize, manage and expand your train as well as tend to your colorful, furry passengers. Board your train and embark on a journey through beautiful landscapes, all while enjoying the soft, lofi beats of an extensive original soundtrack. All aboard Locomoto on April 8th for PC. Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days (Early Access April 9th / PC)
Based in Texas in 1980, Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling shelter survival game that tasks you with guiding a desperate group of zombie apocalypse survivors to safety. Craft weapons, scavenge resources, balance your group’s needs, and try to get everyone out of danger alive. Establish upgradeable shelters to house your survivors and protect them as best you can. Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days heads onto Steam Early Access on April 9th. A demo is available now on Steam.
Promise Mascot Agency (April 10th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch)
From the creators of Paradise Killer comes a wacky open-world narrative adventure mascot management simulator where mascots are real living beings with unique personalities and aspirations - it’s Promise Mascot Agency. You play as “The Janitor” Michi who has been exiled after a mission gone wrong, now he must try to revive the mascot agency in the town of Kaso-Machi and try not to make things worse. Promise Mascot Agency drives onto the scene April 10th for all consoles and PC. A demo is available now on Steam.
Blue Prince (April 10th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)
In Blue Prince, you embark on a genre-defying experience filled with a unique mix of mystery, strategy and puzzles that weave together to create an unpredictable journey. Enter Mt. Holly where you decide what room appears behind each closed door. Every door can reveal a new and exciting chamber that will contain their own unique challenges and secrets, but be careful because each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow. Dive into the manor on April 10th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2: Rage (April 15th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)
The first half of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage released back in February and players will finally get the conclusion to the story later this month on April 15th. Lost Records: Bloom & Rage follows four teenagers in the year 1995 as they have an exciting summer of fun and bonding. But flashforward to 2022 the girls are reuniting after searing in 1995 to never see each other ever again. Lushfoil Photography Sim (April 15th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)
Lushfoil Photography Sim allows players to experience detailed, true-to-life recreations of beautiful and diverse locations around the world. Trek through and explore environments to capture stunning vistas and landscapes with your fully-featured in-game camera. Each environment is filled with objectives to reward players that have a good eye for angles and perspectives, and hidden secrets for those who are patient and observant. Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree (April 17th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch)
Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a dark fantasy action RPG featuring 40+ hours of gameplay with even more to explore in New Game Plus. You are an Inquisitor who has been tasked with rooting out heretics and enforcing the King’s Priest’s will. One moment of defiance ses you on an irreversible path that leads to the heart of Faelduum’s unraveling fate. Scarred (April 17th / PC)
Scarred is a first-person atmospheric horror puzzle game where you must uncover the truth about one of your schoolmates before it’s too late. Traverse a world of nightmares inspired by nostalgic Singaporean architecture as you fight to survive. Scarred is set for a PC release on April 17th and you can play the demo now on PC.
Bionic Bay (April 17th / PC, PlayStation 5)
Bionic Bay is a puzzle platformer game where you play as a society who uses a unique teleportation instrument to attempt to escape an ancient biomechanical world filled with imaginative technology, deadly traps and hidden secrets. Fluid movement and reactive physics make for high adrenaline and action-packed moments in each uniquely designed level. Tempopo (April 17th / PC)
In Tempopo, when Hana’s garden of musical flowers suddenly scatters across a sky full of beautiful islands, she must turn to the magical Tempopo for help returning them. The Tempopo rely on Hana’s conducting skills to keep on the right track in order to solve each island’s puzzle. Post Trauma (April 22nd / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)
Post Trauma is a puzzle horror game inspired by PlayStation 2-era classics. Take control of Roman, a tormented train conductor who awakes to find himself in a surreal dimension following a terrible panic attack. Faced with horrifying architecture and nightmarish abominations, Roman can choose to defend himself with an array of weapons or try to find the path of least resistance. Maliki: Poison of the Past (April 22nd / PC)
Maliki: Poison of the Past is a fantastical odyssey with great depth, offering a surprising mix of roleplaying, exploration, temporal riddles to solve and turn-based combat. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (April 24th / PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)
From Sandfall interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based fantasy JRPG with unique real-time mechanics, making battles more immersive.
