Travel On, Pigeon Preview: Sights, Sounds and Lots of Hats
Sometimes you just have to accept that a pigeon has better dance moves than you.
Travel On, Pigeon from Developer Fog Angler is a casual rhythm game where you play as a tourist pigeon taking a stroll through fun locations. With loads of places to be and things to see, this pigeon knows where it’s at. Take your time, learn the pattern and bob your beak to the beat.
In Travel On, Pigeon each level is made up of tiles that you’ll walk across in time with the current beat of the music playing. You’re only able to move in time, and will be penalized if you don’t, but you can stop for as long as you like to plan your next move. If you are stopped though, you will have to be careful because as you progress, you’ll come across obstacles you’ll have to avoid. Spending too much time in one place could mean getting stomped on by a fellow tourist dancing by.
Additionally, as you progress the tiles will change and force you to perform certain actions. Some tiles increase your speed, others may make you change direction. Strategy is key here, especially keeping in mind that you must always be moving in time with the current beat. In the game’s Steam demo which was available as part of October’s Next Fest, I found the first few levels to be pretty simple. This gives the player time to get adjusted to the controls and objectives. Later, when the tiles begin to change and you encounter your first set of dancing tourists, the difficult ramps up pretty quickly. I was surprised by how much I really had to think before making my move on the later levels.
Travel On, Pigeon also knows that pigeons like to travel in style. You’ll get to try on some hats for your feathered friend. These hats can be picked up during gameplay and are immediately equipped. The game’s full version boasts loads of unlockable hats to try on and even more cities for your pigeon to show them off in.
If you’re looking for a fun, casual puzzle game, Travel On, Pigeon is silly and challenging and is set to release in March of 2025.
