Ludocene is a Web App That Hopes to Match You with Your Next Favorite Game

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking that you have no idea what game to play next, then Ludocene has you in mind for their project currently live on Kickstarter

Ludocene is described as “a dating app that matches you with games rather than people.” The idea is to help players find their next favorite game using human-researched data to build a catalogue. The best part is that the goal isn’t to just give players their typical suspects, but also unusual and unexpected matches as well.

The app will allow players to build the perfect deck of games that they love, pick from games industry experts whose tastes they trust and discover the best matches based on suggested tailored just for them. View game cards which will include a game trailer, best prices and even more details players might need to help them make your choices.

It’s similar to a dating app in the way that you’re able to swipe up or down to reject or match with a game you like the look of. Each swipe will refine your stream of games to match you up with better options. You can see how that works in this video from the team:

And the team is truly made up of experts in the industry including incredible journalists from Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, PC Gamer and many many more. But the team is looking to bring on even more amazing people from the industry to help with the project in the future.

The team plans to have Ludocene be free to use, but the money from the Kickstarter will go directly towards paying experts for their curation and help on the project. Kickstarter will also give the team the opportunity to receive direct feedback from the community. Ludocene will be available six months after funding concludes, but there will be an optional £3 a month subscription which will help to continue to pay any new experts added to the team and will give users access to a wider range of experts and special card packs.

If Ludocene’s Kickstarter campaign goes beyond their budget they have the following stretch goals planned:

  • £30k - Email notifications of new games matching your tastes.

  • £40k - Enhanced game discovery filters: discounts, difficulty, duration, era.

  • £50k - Integration with Steam/Console accounts to identify games.

  • £60k - Card and Board game recommendations.

  • £70k - Commission original artist portraits for expert cards.

  • £80k - Multi-Language Support.

  • £100k - Ludocene Game Discovery Podcast.
